Choosing the right Adirondack chair for your space is the first step. Assembling it is the second, and with By the Yard, that part is easy. Our simple step-by-step assembly process means you can enjoy your new chair in no time.

Tools and Parts Checklist for Adirondack Chair Assembly

Before you get started, make sure you have all parts and tools ready. You’ll need:

  • The base
  • The back of the chair
  • 2 chair arms
  • 2 chair legs
  • 1 chair back piece
  • Washers
  • 4 1.5-inch screws
  • 2 1-inch panhead screw
  • 2 1.25-inch leg bolts
  • Nuts
  • 1 Phillips screwdriver
  • 1 adjustable wrench

Once everything is laid out, follow these quick steps for assembly.

Step 1: Attach the Chair Back to the Base

Use the four 1.5-inch screws to secure the back of the chair to the base. Make sure everything is properly aligned, then tighten each screw completely to ensure stability.

Step 2: Install the Arms and Legs

Next, attach the legs using the 1.25-inch bolts. Insert each bolt from the bottom up so that the smooth side faces outward. Secure with a washer and nut. Then, attach the arms to the top of the legs, aligning them with the back of the chair.

Step 3: Add the Front Support Piece

Slide the front support piece into place at the bottom of the chair. It should fit easily since the frame is not yet fully tightened. Secure it using the 1-inch panhead screws, placing one screw on each side. Once in place, go back and tighten all the bolts and screws to finish the structure.
